How to Add Dahua Cameras and NVRs to DMSS on PC via P2P

  • by

Once you have successfully installed dmss pc, the next step is bringing your security devices online. The easiest and most popular way to add your Dahua IP cameras, XVRs, or NVRs to the app is by using the P2P (Peer-to-Peer) method. This allows you to bypass complicated router port-forwarding and instantly connect to your devices via their Serial Number (SN).

Adding Your Device via Serial Number

If you are using the app on a PC via an emulator, scanning a QR code with a camera isn’t always practical. Instead, manual entry is the best route:

  1. Find your Serial Number (SN): You can find this on the physical sticker of your Dahua device, or by logging into your NVR/Camera’s web interface and navigating to Network > P2P.
  2. Open the DMSS App: From the home screen, click the “+” icon in the top right corner and select “SN/Scan”.
  3. Manually Enter the SN: Choose the “Manually enter SN” option at the bottom of the screen. Type in your device’s exact serial number.
  4. Select Device Type: Choose whether you are adding a Wired Camera, Wireless Camera, NVR, or XVR.
  5. Enter Login Credentials: Input the device name (e.g., “Home NVR”), the username (usually “admin”), and your device’s password. Click “Save”.

Managing Your Camera Feeds

After clicking save, your live feeds will appear on the screen. A common question new users have is: Can I use the Dahua DMSS App to monitor multiple security cameras simultaneously? The short answer is yes—the app features an excellent grid view that lets you watch up to 16 cameras at once.

Now that your cameras are linked, it’s time to make your system work for you automatically. Move on to our next tutorial to learn how to set up motion detection alerts in DMSS PC to ensure you never miss an important event.
